just regarding different risk factors for antibiotic resistant uropathogenes, it seems justice to improve diagnostic power for drug resistant uropathogenes and well appropriate empirical therapy. 300 and 145 cases of clinicopathologically diagnosed nosocomial and spinal cord injured (sci) associated urinary tract infection (uti), respectively, were considered as our samples included in our 24 months study (2005 and 2006). 50 (16.6%) and 26 (17.9%) correctly diagnosed klebsiella, respectively, were cultured from our specimens . mic pattern of this uropathogenes for 8 antibiotics was determined by gradient concentration method. the prevalence of antibiotic resistant klebsiella was more among nosocomial associated uti rather than sci uti (p

Evaluation of antibiotic resistance associated with ophthalmic oqxAB pumps in Klebsiella pneumoniae causing urinary tract infection
Background: The urinary tract infection is the secondary most common human infection. Colon bacteria, including Klebsiella pneumonia, are the main cause of urinary tract infections. The occurrence of the antibiotic resistance is a major problem in the treatment of infections. Beta- lactamases and efflux pumps constitute the major defense mechanisms of antibiotic resistance of Klebsiella pneumon...

Introduction: Urinary tract infection is a common bacterial infection in childhood . Approximately 3-5% of girls and 1% of boys acquire a urinary tract infection (UTI). The management of UTI is complicated by the increasing prevalence of antibiotic- resistant strains and over the - counter antibiotics empiric therapy with antibiotics such as ampicillin , amoxicillin and cotrimoxazo...

Loss of normal bladder function results in increased risk of developing urinary tract infection. Recurrent bacteriuria continues to be a problem in most spinal cord injured persons regardless of the bladder emptying method used. Lower urinary tract complications have decreased with intermittent catheterization, but the effect of increased intravesical pressure and presence of bacteriuria on ren...

The comprehensive retrospective and prospective data on nosocomial infection at the Al-Hada, Rehab and Prince Sultan Military Hospitals pointed to approximately one-third nosocomial episodes belonging to the urinary tract.1 That indeed is in accordance with the reported 40% contribution by urinary infections towards the nosocomial infections.2 Urinary tract infections have been responsible for ...
متن کاملIdentification of a Klebsiella pneumoniae strain associated with nosocomial urinary tract infection.
To differentiate between relapse of infection and reinfection of the urinary tract due to Klebsiella pneumoniae, 33 K. pneumoniae isolates collected from 20 patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) over 2 years were typed by genomic fingerprinting by repetitive-element PCR. Clinical isolates obtained from the same patients with recurrent episodes of urinary tract infection (UTI) revealed identica...

Nosocomial urinary tract infection, a common complication in surgical patients, is primarily related to the use of indwelling urinary catheters. Discontinuation of catheter usage within 2 days, whenever possible, is the cornerstone to avoiding these infections. Patients with asymptomatic bacteriuria may be treated with catheter removal only, and do not necessarily require antibiotic therapy. Pa...
